On January 11, 2010, Kamailio (OpenSER) 3.0.0 has been released – this is a special release, being first based on SIP Router core framework, thus it includes an astonishing number of improvements and new features.

Practically, you can blend any module and core features of SIP Express Router (SER) and Kamailio (OpenSER) in the same configuration file.

It’s worth mentioning for new users that SIP Router project was planned on November 2008, during Karlsruhe meeting, integration work started after releasing Kamailio 1.5.0 on March 2009. After 10 months, we are able to deliver a stable release, numbered 3.0.0 – it includes new features developed during this period and the features of Kamailio (OpenSER) 1.5.x and SIP Express Router (SER) 2.1.x.

Full release notes are available at:

http://www.kamailio.org/mos/view/Kamailio-OpenSER-v3.0.0-Release-Notes

Kamailio 3.0.0 is built out of branch kamailio_3.0 from sip-router.org GIT repository, tuned to match as much as possible the default behaviour users of older Kamailio (OpenSER) versions expect.

If you are a SER user, you may want to check out the branch sr_3.0, tarballs are available at:
